About WEEE Schools Pledge Recycling Challenge

WEEE Schools Pledge is a FREE battery recycling education programme for schools. By engaging in fun learning activities and taking charge of battery recycling students (and their families) learn about the importance of recycling to protect the environment and support LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

Recycling waste batteries ensures that precious materials can be recovered for re-use in manufacturing and hazardous waste is disposed of safely, protecting the future of our planet.

Schools who take on the WEEE Recycling Challenge are also encouraged to enter the annual WEEE Schools Pledge Competition for a chance to win prizes for the most batteries collected.

WEEE Ireland is a not for profit organisation, founded by Producers of electrical and electronic appliances in order to comply with the legal obligations imposed by the WEEE Directive 2002/96/EC.

WEEE Ireland organises the treatment and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment, batteries and lighting equipment from authorised collection points, on behalf of its Producer members.
